"Cautious, careful people, always casting about to preserve their reputation and social standing, never can bring about a reform. Those who are really in earnest must be willing to be anything or nothing in the world's estimation, and publicly and privately, in season and out, avow their sympathy with despised and persecuted ideas and their advocates, and bear the consequences." ~Susan B. Anthony

IS THE REPUBLICAN PARTY THE MOST FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE ?
Fiscal responsibility???
This word has been looming around in the air for several years. It now has become "the word" that launches campaigns for politicians and decides who gets the vote.
Everyone is using "Fiscal Responsibility " as their platform, but do the voters really get what "Fiscal Responsibility" means? After looking at the results of this most recent election, which transferred some of the power over to the Republicans in the Senate, it is clear that most people do not understand what being fiscally responsible means.
After the vote came in and chairs changed, the media said, "Now we know what the people want." What the people want is based on no knowledge,no education, just on what the media tells them. If the voter truly wanted Fiscal Responsibility, they would not have voted out Democrats, as historically they have been the fiscally responsible party since WWII.
We jump on words like FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE, AND ENTITLEMENT, being spoon fed to us by the media and allow those words to cloud our historical perspective. This is evident especially when people keep voting for fiscally irresponsible candidates, from a fiscally irresponsible party.
Who are these candidates? Republicans! The chart above shows spending and revenues during Republican Presidents and Democratic Presidents, and the "Fiscally Responsible" party has been under the Democrats. It shows less spending and more revenue coming in. Even Jimmy Carter was more "Fiscally Responsible" than any Neo -Conservative, including Republicans ultimate model Ronald Reagan.
Republican party has proven that they care more about the rich in our country than the middle class or poor. This party would rather cut on the entitlement group known as medicaid, medicare, and social security than impose a fair tax on the wealthiest in our country.
How can one spend millions on a repeal of a piece of legislation such as Health Care Reform, that will decrease our deficit while it helps millions of Americans, and have you believe they stand for "Fiscal Responsibility."
The above chart is a historical track record of revenues and spending under both Republican and Democrats.
I have also given you a link to go and check out more facts on the National Debt..http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:sYZl8V0J-l0J:cedarcomm.com/~stevelm1/usdebt.htm+where+was+our+deficit+when+clinton+left+office&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&client=firefox-a
After reviewing these facts I can only conclude that not only is the Republican Party inhumane , but lacks fiscal responsibility and has managed to cloud the American peoples perspective. Obama's administration inherited the huge deficit, caused by the Republican administration and their policies. Do "People" really want to go back to the same failed policies? Has The Republican strategy of cutting taxes for the rich ever boosted our economy? Democrats have stood behind you, the poor and middle class. You can now say, "Thank you" by voting for your local politician that stands behind our president! More than likely it is not a Republican!

Because I have been given much 0001
Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
This story was sent to me by a dear friend in California! It is so true that I wanted to share. It is one of my fundamental beliefs. The story is called
"IT'S WHAT YOU SCATTER"
I was at the corner grocery store buying some early potatoes... I noticed a small boy, delicate of bone and feature, ragged but clean, hungrily apprising a basket of freshly picked green peas.
I paid for my potatoes but was also drawn to the display of fresh green peas. I am a pushover for creamed peas and new potatoes.
Pondering the peas, I couldn't help overhearing the conversation between Mr. Miller (the store owner) and the ragged boy next to me.
'Hello Barry, how are you today?'
'H'lo, Mr. Miller. Fine, thank ya. Jus' admirin' them peas. They sure look good.'
'They are good, Barry. How's your Ma?'
'Fine. Gittin' stronger alla' time.'
'Good. Anything I can help you with?'
'No, Sir. Jus' admirin' them peas.'
'Would you like to take some home?' Asked Mr. Miller.
'No, Sir. Got nuthin' to pay for 'em with.'
'Well, what have you to trade me for some of those peas?'
'All I got's my prize marble here.'
'Is that right? Let me see it' said Miller.
'Here 'tis. She's a dandy.'
'I can see that. Hmm mmm, only thing is this one is blue and I sort of go for red. Do you have a red one like this at home?' the store owner asked..
'Not zackley but almost.'
'Tell you what Take this sack of peas home with you and next trip this way let me look at that red marble'. Mr. Miller told the boy.
'Sure will. Thanks Mr. Miller.'
Mrs. Miller, who had been standing nearby, came over to help me.
With a smile she said, 'There are two other boys like him in our community, all three are in very poor circumstances. Jim just loves to bargain with them for peas, apples, tomatoes, or whatever.
When they come back with their red marbles, and they always do, he decides he doesn't like red after all and he sends them home with a bag of produce for a green marble or an orange one, when they come on their next trip to the store.'
I left the store smiling to myself, impressed with this man. A short time later I moved to Colorado , but I never forgot the story of this man, the boys, and their bartering for marbles.
Several years went by, each more rapid than the previous one. Just recently I had occasion to visit some old friends in that Idaho community and while I was there learned that Mr. Miller had died. They were having his visitation that evening and knowing my friends wanted to go, I agreed to accompany them. Upon arrival at the mortuary we fell into line to meet the relatives of the deceased and to offer whatever words of comfort we could.
Ahead of us in line were three young men. One was in an army uniform and the other two wore nice haircuts, dark suits and white shirts...all very professional looking. They approached Mrs. Miller, standing composed and smiling by her husband's casket.
Each of the young men hugged her, kissed her on the cheek, spoke briefly with her and moved on to the casket. Her misty light blue eyes followed them as, one by one; each young man stopped briefly and placed his own warm hand over the cold pale hand in the casket. Each left the mortuary awkwardly, wiping his eyes.
Our turn came to meet Mrs. Miller. I told her who I was and reminded her of the story from those many years ago and what she had told me about her husband's bartering for marbles. With her eyes glistening, she took my hand and led me to the casket.
'Those three young men who just left were the boys I told you about.
They just told me how they appreciated the things Jim 'traded' them. Now, at last, when Jim could not change his mind about color or size......they came to pay their debt.'
'We've never had a great deal of the wealth of this world,' she confided, 'but right now, Jim would consider himself the richest man in Idaho ..'
With loving gentleness she lifted the lifeless fingers of her deceased husband. Resting underneath were three exquisitely shined red marbles.
The Moral:
We will not be remembered by our words, but by our kind deeds. Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath.
Today I wish you a day of ordinary miracles ~ A fresh pot of coffee you didn't make yourself...
An unexpected phone call from an old friend.... Green stoplights on your way to work or home....
The fastest line at the grocery store....
A good sing-along song on the radio...
Your keys found right where you left them.
Never be in too much of a hurry to notice the ordinary miracles when they occur.
IT'S NOT WHAT YOU GATHER, BUT WHAT YOU SCATTER THAT TELLS WHAT KIND OF LIFE YOU HAVE LIVED!

I WAS NOT ALWAYS AN OBAMA FAN, I WAS A HILLARY FAN
My husband volunteered to help with Obama’s campaign. They asked my husband to go to Colorado and knocked on doors to ask Colorado residents to vote for Obama. The Democratic Party chose Colorado, as it was more of a swing state. Utah has remained consistently Red. Even with Bush at the Helm . Yes, we were filled with enthusiasm. We had a candidate that gave us something to believe in. It was my Husbands first year to be able to vote in the election, as he was now a citizen of the United States. I actually believed Obama had a chance in Utah. Obama did bring new voters out and increased the percentage of votes for a Democratic president in Utah. He inspired me to want to do more for my country, and for the party that had been speaking up for the people, the workers.
I will confess that I was not always an Obama fan. I was a Hillary Rodham Clinton Fan. The Ilunga house was divided in the primary. I would say to my husband, “Why are you supporting this guy?” "Who is he? This guy from Chicago, Obama” Obama sounded like Osama, a terrorist leader of Al Queda, that took part in the advocacy of the plane attacks on September 11. Obama’s middle name Hussein was the last name of Saddam, the Crazy leader of Iraq, whom the United States was now at war with. His name did not matter to me just thought it was kind of ironic. I like his name “Barrack” and it means “Blessed by God” I just did not know any thing about him. Then I would go on to say “Hillary has been fighting for the people most of her life.” Remember when she said, “It takes a village” how true those words were. I have repeated that line many times in my life. It does take a village. In my past I had distantly followed her. I was never truly active in politics except to vote. I had been an activist for clean air and water in Florida. Knocking door to door in my later 20’s. I remember once while I was out canvassing in ST Peters burg in Florida an older man had a conversation with me in his yard. There was a bit of wisdom in which he spoke that I never forgot. He said, “be careful of all the laws you make as eventually they take away your freedoms” I have often pondered on that, and saw much truth in it.
I did express my viewpoints when the moment presented it’s self. Especially when people would make statements that were not true about Democrats, or issues. I openly would state what I supported, and what I didn’t. When I was younger it was Hillary Clinton whom was the pioneer of Health Care Reform, unfortunately America was not ready. She was sincere and passionate. I wanted Hillary to become the first American women President. I actually donated to her campaign. She deserved it and she had earned it. My husband would say, “Deb, give Obama a chance, listen to what he has to say. He sounds like you!” Being loyal, I was not going to listen to Obama, I stood by Hillary in the primary and actually cried when she lost. We followed the states and I would dance around when Hillary took a state( kind of like when we would watch a football game or basketball game but we were supporting different teams and my team scored,) My excitement did not last long as that evening Obama was declared the victor and Hillary graciously gave the baton to Obama. My Hillary team had lost the primary. I wondered what the heck are delegates, and why do they get to decide? I am pointing out here my lack of knowledge of how this political process works. What are super delegates? I said to my husband in tears “Obama should make Hillary his VP.” My husband could not believe I had taken it so hard. My tears turned to anger and I said if he does not make her his VP I will not vote for him. Listening to the news others felt the same, so I found I was not alone in my feelings. My husband said, “Obama is wise he will offer her a position that will be best for her”. Well the Democrats were divided in the primary and waiting in suspense to see who Obama’s VP would be. Obama announced his choice and my heart sank again. Hillary was not the choice. I thought what a powerful ticket that could have been. What was he thinking? No doubt with her by his side the Dems would claim the White House and put our country back on track. Hillary asked us to come together. I had a hard time accepting her defeat. I thought about how strong she was as the first lady. When she had to endure the scandals and the infidelity of her husband. She carried herself with strength and class. She stayed loyal and brought the words forgiveness to the four front in her personal life. That takes great love and strength. In her defeat in the primary, I started looking at John McCain as an alternative. He was a war hero, and was not afraid to go against his party when he felt it was the right thing to do. I admired that, however, McCain did not speak how I felt. The day came when I finally LISTENED to Obama. It was on the night of his accepting the Democratic nomination His speech sent tingles down my body. Wow!! I could not help but listened. I saw a man whose words touched my heart. He spoke what I felt. That night I decided I wanted to know who this man was. That night was the starting point for the journey I would be taking as an out spoken advocate for Health care Reform and the battle against the insurance companies. It sparked a burning desire to try and grow the Democratic Party in Utah. To not be afraid to take steps to help create something better for my children,my family and friends and my fellow Americans. I was happy to join the Obama wave that was taking the country, and I have never regretted it. YES WE CAN! HEALTH CARE REFORM OVERVIEW
This link is a must in understanding the process of the Health Car Bill, and what it went through. Also lets you see what an amazing President Obama is, and how some valiant people fought for health care for all, but had to compromise through the process. It also lets you see how much time Republicans really had to review. Very good article.

SLOWLY COMING OUT OF THE CLOSET
I can remember 2 years ago how excited I was to cast my vote for Barack Obama on November 4, 2008. Before this day my husband and I became a small voice for him in Utah. We were not given a sign to put in our yard, but, had we had a sign, my husband would have still wanted us to be respectful of our neighbors and their beliefs and opinions. I agree. We all should be respectful, but I would have been fine placing Obama's name in my front yard. Would putting a sign up for the person I wanted to vote for really make people angry with us? Would it be disrespectful? Would my friends disown me? True friends love you despite your differences. We all can't think the same. Many put up Republicans signs. Why would a Democratic sign be so different? I started seeing some signs for Obama while driving and I got excited. I remember going to a girl’s night out and one of our friends, a staunch Republican, spoke up about proposition 8 in California. She stated that if Obama wins this election he has legislation he plans to sign immediately after his oath to office that will over turn Proposition 8. I had read the document she had been making reference to and her statement was inaccurate. I spoke up in this group and declared that was not so. She asked me to go read the document. I responded, I have, and what she is saying just is not so. Obama has stated he believes that marriage is between one man and one woman and that he would not be changing proposition 8 in California, that banned same sex marriage. However, he did say “I know there are differences on same-sex marriage, but surely we can agree that our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters deserve to visit the person they love in the hospital and to live lives free of discrimination” I absolutely agree. This friend tended to be someone people would listen too unfortunately, and on many occasions she has not had her facts straight. She even blogged that Obama was a radical, I had to chuckle at that one. Imagine someone with compassion for all, being called a radical. I do recall that the Pharisees considered Jesus that in his time. I am not comparing Jesus to Obama . Just making note how in history people claimed the same thing about Jesus. Now in this group of ladies I believe she new that by bringing up same sex marriage and stating Obama would over turn prop 8, that would instantly make our friends vote against him. I am not sure if my speaking up made a difference, but all of a sudden I felt good and a little flushed about the correction, and helping others know the truth about Obama’s position. There are 2 things you are taught at an early age and that’s not to talk about religion or politics, you are sure to have discourse. I did not want to offend anyone, but leading people with falsehoods was something I could not stand for. I believe this friend believed she was being accurate as she tends to listen to conservative media as fact. Let the record show that Obama administration on Oct 12, 2010 decided to appeal a judge's rulings that prevented the U.S. government from banning same-sex marriages. Still it seemed to me that no matter what a person believed in, or what he stood for, he or she would not have a chance to win if he was a Democrat in Utah County. So I tended to just go out and vote and speak up every now and then and leave it at that. Frustrated by the condition of our country, seeing my friends lose their homes, people without health care or the negative effects of health care debt, a war without end, our economy, rising cost of gas, the pollution of our world, the banks charging 25,00 dollars for a 3.00 over draft, insurance companies taking advantage of their power, I was now speaking out a little more. Obama gave us something to believe in!

IN HONOR OF OUR VETERANS
Today is Veterans Day! I think of my nephew who is in Afghanistan. I wonder what he is doing at this moment? What he is thinking? If he is safe today. I want him to know he is loved and missed by his family. I think of all the men, women and families that miss them. I think of the courage they must have. The sense of duty and love for their country. I am grateful for the sacra fices they make to keep us safe at home, and to keep and bring freedom to people. I thought of the song by Sting " We work the black seam together" a line in that song "I hope the Russians love their children too" I see the faces of our enemy and know that they have families too, who love them. I am sad that life is not always valued as we see suicide bombers that do not value their own. Then I think of the song "where is the love" The line " give us guidance from above" I hope when the guidance comes we will listen. I have posted this poem to honor our Veterans today.
The Charge Of The Light Brigade
by Alfred, Lord Tennyson
Memorializing Events in the Battle of Balaclava, October 25, 1854
Written 1854
Half a league half a league,
Half a league onward,
All in the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred:
'Forward, the Light Brigade!
Charge for the guns' he said:
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
'Forward, the Light Brigade!'
Was there a man dismay'd ?
Not tho' the soldier knew
Some one had blunder'd:
Theirs not to make reply,
Theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to do & die,
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon in front of them
Volley'd & thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
Boldly they rode and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of Hell
Rode the six hundred.
Flash'd all their sabres bare,
Flash'd as they turn'd in air
Sabring the gunners there,
Charging an army while
All the world wonder'd:
Plunged in the battery-smoke
Right thro' the line they broke;
Cossack & Russian
Reel'd from the sabre-stroke,
Shatter'd & sunder'd.
Then they rode back, but not
Not the six hundred.
Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon behind them
Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
While horse & hero fell,
They that had fought so well
Came thro' the jaws of Death,
Back from the mouth of Hell,
All that was left of them,
Left of six hundred.
When can their glory fade?
O the wild charge they made!
All the world wonder'd.
Honour the charge they made!
Honour the Light Brigade,
Noble six hundred!~ Tennyson
I pray for their safe return, for the rain to stop falling, for the olive branch to come and a rainbow to show in the sky above once again. I pray for peace and understanding and hope we all can become that which we want the world to be.
Our soldiers see things no human should have too. They do what their country tells them. Pray for peace, love , and understanding and for the day we will bring our soldiers home. Love, the message to all mankind.
I keep faith, as I hear our president Obama has brought home 100.000.00 of our soldiers from Iraq and looks to find a peaceful resolution to this war and to bring our soldiers safely home.
Bless those who have died for our liberties!

Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon in front of them
Volley'd & thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
Boldly they rode and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of Hell
Rode the six hundred.
Flash'd all their sabres bare,
Flash'd as they turn'd in air
Sabring the gunners there,
Charging an army while
All the world wonder'd:
Plunged in the battery-smoke
Right thro' the line they broke;
Cossack & Russian
Reel'd from the sabre-stroke,
Shatter'd & sunder'd.
Then they rode back, but not
Not the six hundred.
Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon behind them
Volley'd and thunder'd;

Nancy Pelosi, the article is long, but good to read. The more educated you get the more you may like her, if you already don't. If you don't tell me why?

We Can't Let Banks Control
"Banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered." -Thomas Jefferson
My dear friend in Alaska posted this to her FB. Thomas Jefferson took the words out of my mouth very eloquently and he said it first!
We have people and politicians screaming about our new Health Care Bill! They are willing to take Tax payers money to fight something that will bring much good to their fellow man. In a hopes to over turn the whole bill. They use the mandate as their weapon, which could be true without a public option as it does not appear we have control over premiums, but why not amend that part instead of fighting to over turn the whole bill. Better yet support Public Option. For a party that claims they want fiscal responsibility this doesn't sound like a fiscally responsible move, especially when it has been said to help decrease the deficit in the long run.
If the Republican party really cares about the people then why don't they bring bills that reflect this. How about a bill that would bring some controls on the banks sense we gave them a bail out. Banks have their positives and negatives. When they start taking advantage of people and circumstances that's when we need to respond. I am outraged that banks have been able to charge their customers $25.00 to $30 dollars for every bounced check. Even if you were overdrawn by 1 cent. I am not saying someone has been charged this for being 1 cent over, but I know people get charged twenty five to thirty dollars for being 5 dollars over. This does not include what the other side charges. What kind of interest is that for not even getting a loan. This kind of acceptable behavior from the banks is criminal. For all you perfect check balance-rs kudos to you! Lest not forget those who are imperfect in a imperfect world. I have a story about how a five dollar check bounced due to bank error, and it cost over 200 dollars. Anyone want to hear it?
Could we get some control on the banks. I say if the government doesn't we should. We should implement a day or week to take all your money out of the bank, claiming if they do not do something about these fees we will continue not using their services. I wonder how they would like that? True Blue Party could initiate this peaceful defiance of Banks. We could pick a day and do it for one week. A little inconvenience for a great change to occur. We need enough people to help the banks feel it.

PELOSI DELIVERED
This link is Fox News The famous Speech of Pelosi that was misquoted! Look at how people can read and hear what she has to say yet continue to follow the spin. Are we really a bunch of Sheep?
Pelosi....I kept hearing people say her name. I did not know who this Pelosi was that people seemed to like and not like. My friends husband compared me to her, when I was talking about Health Care and Obama. He is not an Obama fan and a Rebulican. I thought she can't be all bad if I sound like her. I went to check her out, just to see who I was being compared too. I am still not sure why certain people don't like her. What I saw was a women who help pass a big piece of legislation that benefited millions of Americans. Then I heard she said " We need to pass it so we know whats in it" referring to the Health Care Bill. If that was true, I would have to agree that was not a reason to pass a Health Care Bill. Nor was it a very smart thing to say. But from my own life experiences I have learned not to take things as true without checking it out, or to pass judgment on another person without knowing all the facts. So I goggled it. Sure enough, just as I suspected people were taking only a piece of what she said and spreading it around the internet. If they took the time to listen to the whole speech and know who her audience was they would have understood what she was saying and to whom. This is what was said “But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy. She says so that YOU can find out. She was not talking to congress or Caffetz. She was speaking to National Association of Counties, on their 75th anniversary. She was invited to speak to them. She did not say this to congress, the people voting on it and putting it together. She was saying it to people who were not part of the voting of the bill, and perhaps would not get a chance to read it. She also said a alot of good things that never got quoted. Go to to read her speech. Jason Chaffetz actually used it as an excuse for not voting for the Health Care Bill. Did he go to this organizations 75 th anniversary and believe Nancy was talking to him? Maybe he should have skipped the little get together and read the bill. Let's stop being witch hunters just because someone say's WITCH!

NEWS THE ECONOMY IS IMPROVING!!!!
Republican Agenda: Cut Taxes for the extremely rich.A war in the middle east. That did not help our economy. We lived for eight years with a Republican president Bush and a Republican House and Senate. Where did it get us? America was on the edge of depression. In one in a half years our Democratic President Obama and Democratic congress has given us an improving economy! What did America do? Buy into the Republican tactics and did not reelect the people who fought hard for you. I do not get why any person who is not extremely rich would be for a party that only fights for the extremely rich. The Republicans fought every step of the way against any Democratic agenda which has now brought some light to Americans. Republican leaders favorite words when the Democratic congress presents a solution is NO!!!NO!!!NO!! Thank you OBAMA for saying YES!!!!
Utah REPUBLICAN JASON CHAFFETZ WINS THE THIRD DISTRICT.
REPUBLICAN JASON CHAFFETZ WINS THE THIRD DISTRICT. Is that really news or just a given in Utah. On November 2, 2010 I went to the Poles to vote, like millions of other Americans. I live in the third district and my Representative is Republican Jason Chaffetz. I went to vote around 11:00 am. There were no lines. I thought how lucky I was to live were voting was easily accessible and no waiting. I had much to think about as I headed toward the place where I would cast my vote. It was a pleasant, beautiful day, which should have driven my spirits up, but some how I was not excited. The reason for lack of excitement was not because I live in Utah County where a Democrat has not been elected for over 13 years, but because there was no one on my ballot that I could really get excited about. Not only did no one move me, but also the choice I had on the Democratic ticket was a very nice, sincere lady named Karen Hyer who openly stated, “ I have always been a conservative.” She was not a registered Democrat and she would not have voted for Health Care. Although our Utah county Platform states we are for Universal Health Care. If it sounds like a duck it probably is a duck. She has openly stated that she decided to run because the UCD asked her to. I was a little sick to my stomach as my boys and I had spent numerous hours working in her behalf. I was not impressed with either Candidate. I did not care about their lengthy resume, as I know it does not take a rocket scientist to cast a vote. What I wanted to know is how were they going to vote. I already knew that Jason Chaffetz did not vote to extend the unemployment when we have millions out of work and no jobs. When Karen was asked what her reason for running she stated “I think we should have a balance in Utah, I am not a career politician” I have met her on several occasions and I like her, but Health Care is to important for me to look the other way. I went to the Jason Chaffetz and Karen Hyer debate. It was at this debate that I found out Karen would not have supported the Health Care Bill, but no explanation as to why? She stated she would not appeal it though. Jason did not support the Health Care Bill. When Jason spoke he parroted words like “Fiscal Responsibility” “What we need is tort reform”. Then he said one of the reasons he could not support the Health Care Bill is because Nancy Pelosi said, “We have to pass it to know what’s in it”. This is the same Republican rhetoric that people keep buying. That statement was quoted incorrectly and taken out of context. I wanted to yell “Chaffetz don’t you know what’s in it?” “ Don’t you have a responsibility to read the bill then judge it on it’s own merit?” I actually had wished I were up there debating him. The only thing I could do was sit back and watch. Karen could not have debated him on the Health Care Bill, as she wasn’t in opposition. And quit honestly with all these politicians credentials you think they would have read the bill that they oppose, and have some tangible reason for opposing it. Certainly Jason has had time by now! The debate was a flop for the Democrats. She called Jason out on being a career politician. I personally admire anyone who can see what they want and works hard for it. That is not a negative for Jason. If they do a good job they should keep the job. The people can always put term limits by voting them out. This argument of career politician would not sway a person to not vote for Jason. Jason boasted about sleeping on a cot and bringing some bill about airport screening machines. I don’t think airport machines screening is our top priority, unless we have none. What has been his contribution? Karen was annoyed with the “cot” story as Jason went to embellish in it again. She brought a point out that the government pays for Jason’s power, water for showers, and roof over his head. I say he is lucky as we have Americans who do not even have a roof over their heads. I want to know what he is going to do for them? His vote No on the extension of unemployment, if not passed could have lead to more homelessness. Luckily we have more compassionate leaders who are in touch with the real needs of the public. Not many of them use the Airport regularly, if at all. What about the people who have lost their homes? Karen stated that the “Cot” was all media hype. I tend to agree with her, as his response was “What I do in my personal life is no ones business.” My response is “You are right, but why do you keep making it public and using it to help you appear frugal, when other personal aspects of your life are not. You even have “cot” side chats.” It’s fine Jason, really, I don’t care if you want to sleep in your office on a COT, and I don’t mind that the government will cover the little extra cost. Does anyone remember the famous character Scrooge? He was frugal. Now it seems to be popular to say you are “frugal’, “cheap, “tight””. Jason bragged on a U Tube video that he gave no “free meals” in his campaign, and stated people liked that. Are the people in our country becoming that tight that they wouldn’t even buy Pizza for hard working students? Deseret News reported his campaign made $208,359, but no splurge for a 5-buck pizza! I do not believe that is who we are. Jason brags about this kind of behavior. I don’t care how you spend your money. I care how you VOTE. You voted NO on pretty much everything. You state that tax cuts will help. Tax cuts for whom? Obama has already given tax credits to small businesses. Did you vote for that? Bush Tax cuts for the wealthy did not help our economy and put us into a greater debt. If the Democrats do not give Republicans time to read the bills then take the initiative to pass a bill that will allow all of congress to have time to read the bill and then vote on it. Doing nothing is far more damaging then amending a bill. After the debate I knew Jason had won. He came across very sincere, and spoke well, but not much substance. He almost cried when talking about our soldiers. I give him credit for voting to bring them home when his party did not. I only give a drop of credit. I went up and spoke with him after the debate for a few seconds. I said to Jason, “Obama made sense when he talked about the Health Care Bill comparing it to a hole in the ceiling. He said some people are covered and some people are getting rained on, and heat continues to get out costing us more. We have to spend money to fix the hole so in the long run we will save and decrease our deficit and everyone will be covered and not getting rained on. Jason replied “Utah has “Hip” for High-risk people.” I never heard of Hip so I went to research it. Here is what I found A Utah government funded Health Care? Jason seems to be in favor of? I wonder if he read the Insurance Regulation Establishing Risk Pool, Utah State Legislature1990? What? A state government takes over of health care? JK (that would be a Republican spin to get people up in a tizzy) this Hip does not solve the problem and it has such constraints to it that it continues to leave millions out in the rain and our Taxes pay for part of it. Can people even afford the deductible? I will not vote for anyone who does not support Health Care for Americans. He states we need Tort Reform. Hey Jason, Utah already has tort reform. Does this mean you will vote against the Tort bill in congress because Utah has one?Is it changing the premiums? Utah has had Tort Reform since 1996. In a medical malpractice action, non-economic damages (those for pain, suffering, and inconvenience) may not exceed $250,000. Utah Code Ann. § 78-14-7.1 (1996). Less government? It doesn’t work and most people do not even know this. This violates due process, where a court can decide based on it’s merits what damages are allotted. Every situation is different and should be weighed on it’s own merit. So can anyone still say Mal practice lawsuits are driving the cost up on our insurance premiums? This is a lie that Americans have bought into, and now Chaffetz is parroting it. I sadly went to the poles and voted for those people who stood for my ideals. I did not change my principles just to elect my party candidate. I will be watching my elected officials and calling them out when they mislead the public. Especially when they want you to believe they are out fighting for you! =)JOIN TRUE BLUE AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE! BE A VOICE!

THE MAKING OF A DEMOCRAT THE BEGGININGS OF MY POLITICAL BELIEFS
When I was a child I can remember my father being a voice for the Laborer.
He belonged to the Teamsters Union in California and ran to be president of a local office in the Union.
Workers were being exploited and wealthy business owners were doing the exploiting. My father won the election and fought for the rights of the Blue Collar worker; so maybe there is a little blue in my blood.
He fought for the laborers rights even when wealthy business owners threaten his life and that of his family. I lost my father at age eight, but I can still hear his campaign slogan, “If you vote for me I’ll vote for YOU”.
When I was a child I did not know that the Democratic Party fought for the rights of the Laborer and brought about Laws that would help them. That is one of the reasons why the Labor Unions give their support to the Democratic Party. My early years I was not interested in Politics, but I did have strong opinions of what was "Just and fair". I tended to stick up for the under dog. I did vote when I was 18 and was rather opinionated, however, I did take the lead of who to vote for from my grandfather.
I remember in the early 70’s the Equal Rights Amendment for women was singing in the air. In the 1940’s both Republicans and Democrats added support to the Equal Rights Amendment. Alice Paul, a suffragette leader in 1923, in Seneca Falls, for the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the 1848 Woman’s Rights Convention, she introduced the "Lucretia Mott Amendment," which read: "Men and women shall have equal rights throughout the United States and every place subject to its jurisdiction." The amendment was introduced in every session of Congress until it passed in reworded form in 1972.” I was in elementary school. Yet I remember in the later 70’s this issue coming about again. It never became law and this is the clincher that stopped it: They needed 38 state ratifications to make it a law and add it to the constitution. They had a 7 year deadline on the ratification process. They got an extension and the last state Indiana who ratified it became the 35 state in 1977, the year I graduated from High School. The Amendment was 3 states short and did not meet the deadline. In 1980 the Republican Party removed Equal Rights Amendment support from its platform. The congress gave an extension after bowing to public pressure until 1982. I can remember people and the Republicans saying if you vote for equal rights for women, women will be drafted into the military. That put fear into many women (We now have women who volunteer for the military and serve in combat.) I recall this being said from memory and yet when I go to look it up I find other ridiculous statements that were made. I have listed some other fear tactics that were used by the conservative party that were inaccurate. “Phyllis Schlafly, right-wing leader of the Eagle Forum/STOP ERA, played on the same fears that had generated female opposition to woman suffrage. Anti-ERA organizers claimed that the ERA would deny woman’s right to be supported by her husband, privacy rights would be overturned, women would be sent into combat, and abortion rights and homosexual marriages would be upheld. Opponents surfaced from other traditional sectors as well. States’-rights advocates said the ERA was a federal power grab, and business interests such as the insurance industry opposed a measure they believed would cost them money. Opposition to the ERA was also organized by fundamentalist religious groups.” Does this sound familiar? Utah was one of the states that did not ratify it. It's hard for me to believe that in a modern day we could not pass a law that simply says
Section 1. Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.
Section 2. The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.
Section 3. This amendment shall take effect two years after the date of ratification.
Why would anyone be against this?
I understood that because a woman wanted to have the same opportunities, get the same pay, and be treated fairly did not mean they were saying they were the same as men. I mean there is a physical difference. Nor did it mean they no longer wanted to be mothers or wives. Nor did it mean they did not want men to continue using manners. That would be a personal choice of each person. Women had been discriminated against for years. It wasn’t until on August 26, 1920, the Nineteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution became law, and women could vote in the fall elections, including in the Presidential election. I am grateful to the women of the suffrage that they persevered from 1848 when Votes for women were first seriously proposed in the United States in July, 1848, at the Seneca Falls, Woman's Rights Convention organized by Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott. Charlotte Woodward was the only participant in the 1848 Convention who was still alive to be able to vote, though she was apparently too ill to actually cast a ballot.
I’ve read many details of what women had to go through to achieve something many of us today take for granted. One name which comes to mind is Susan B. Anthony, whom played a pivotal role with the Women’s Rights Movement, working to get women the right to vote.
A Quote from her, which I must continue to remind myself of as I go through this journey, “Cautious, careful people, always casting about to preserve their reputation and social standing, never can bring about a reform. Those who are really in earnest must be willing to be anything or nothing in the world's estimation, and publicly and privately, in season and out, avow their sympathy with despised and persecuted ideas and their advocates, and bear the consequences For many years”
I have put this quote above to keep the reminder on the blog. I understand that extremists from any walk of life can twist and pervert any law to suit any particular perversion to serve any perverted purpose, but I know that Equal Rights Amendment is plain and simple 1. I BELIEVE NO ONE SHOULD BE DISCRIMINATED AGAINST...ESPECIALLY OUR DEAR SISTERS; As the Law simply reads "Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex."
Susan B once said, "Men - their rights and nothing more; Women - their rights and nothing less. " and I say, "Anything less would be positively medieval."
In my time the Democratic Party Supported the amendment and the Republican Party did not; so it became one step into the Making of a Democrat.
