IS THE REPUBLICAN PARTY THE MOST FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE ?

Fiscal responsibility???


This word has been looming around in the air for several years. It now has become "the word" that launches campaigns for politicians and decides who gets the vote.

Everyone is using "Fiscal Responsibility " as their platform, but do the voters really get what "Fiscal Responsibility" means? After looking at the results of this most recent election, which transferred some of the power over to the Republicans in the Senate, it is clear that most people do not understand what being fiscally responsible means.

After the vote came in and chairs changed, the media said, "Now we know what the people want." What the people want is based on no knowledge,no education, just on what the media tells them. If the voter truly wanted Fiscal Responsibility, they would not have voted out Democrats, as historically they have been the fiscally responsible party since WWII.

We jump on words like FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE, AND ENTITLEMENT, being spoon fed to us by the media and allow those words to cloud our historical perspective. This is evident especially when people keep voting for fiscally irresponsible candidates, from a fiscally irresponsible party.

Who are these candidates? Republicans! The chart above shows spending and revenues during Republican Presidents and Democratic Presidents, and the "Fiscally Responsible" party has been under the Democrats. It shows less spending and more revenue coming in. Even Jimmy Carter was more "Fiscally Responsible" than any Neo -Conservative, including Republicans ultimate model Ronald Reagan.

Republican party has proven that they care more about the rich in our country than the middle class or poor. This party would rather cut on the entitlement group known as medicaid, medicare, and social security than impose a fair tax on the wealthiest in our country.

How can one spend millions on a repeal of a piece of legislation such as Health Care Reform, that will decrease our deficit while it helps millions of Americans, and have you believe they stand for "Fiscal Responsibility."

After reviewing these facts I can only conclude that not only is the Republican Party inhumane , but lacks fiscal responsibility and has managed to cloud the American peoples perspective. Obama's administration inherited the huge deficit, caused by the Republican administration and their policies. Do "People" really want to go back to the same failed policies? Has The Republican strategy of cutting taxes for the rich ever boosted our economy? Democrats have stood behind you, the poor and middle class. You can now say, "Thank you" by voting for your local politician that stands behind our president! More than likely it is not a Republican!

This story was sent to me by a dear friend in California! It is so true that I wanted to share. It is one of my fundamental beliefs. The story is called

"IT'S WHAT YOU SCATTER"

I was at the corner grocery store buying some early potatoes... I noticed a small boy, delicate of bone and feature, ragged but clean, hungrily apprising a basket of freshly picked green peas.

I paid for my potatoes but was also drawn to the display of fresh green peas. I am a pushover for creamed peas and new potatoes.



Pondering the peas, I couldn't help overhearing the conversation between Mr. Miller (the store owner) and the ragged boy next to me.

'Hello Barry, how are you today?'



'H'lo, Mr. Miller. Fine, thank ya. Jus' admirin' them peas. They sure look good.'

'They are good, Barry. How's your Ma?'



'Fine. Gittin' stronger alla' time.'



'Good. Anything I can help you with?'



'No, Sir. Jus' admirin' them peas.'

'Would you like to take some home?' Asked Mr. Miller.



'No, Sir. Got nuthin' to pay for 'em with.'

'Well, what have you to trade me for some of those peas?'

'All I got's my prize marble here.'



'Is that right? Let me see it' said Miller.



'Here 'tis. She's a dandy.'



'I can see that. Hmm mmm, only thing is this one is blue and I sort of go for red. Do you have a red one like this at home?' the store owner asked..


'Not zackley but almost.'

'Tell you what Take this sack of peas home with you and next trip this way let me look at that red marble'. Mr. Miller told the boy.

'Sure will. Thanks Mr. Miller.'



Mrs. Miller, who had been standing nearby, came over to help me.

With a smile she said, 'There are two other boys like him in our community, all three are in very poor circumstances. Jim just loves to bargain with them for peas, apples, tomatoes, or whatever.



When they come back with their red marbles, and they always do, he decides he doesn't like red after all and he sends them home with a bag of produce for a green marble or an orange one, when they come on their next trip to the store.'



I left the store smiling to myself, impressed with this man. A short time later I moved to Colorado , but I never forgot the story of this man, the boys, and their bartering for marbles.



Several years went by, each more rapid than the previous one. Just recently I had occasion to visit some old friends in that Idaho community and while I was there learned that Mr. Miller had died. They were having his visitation that evening and knowing my friends wanted to go, I agreed to accompany them. Upon arrival at the mortuary we fell into line to meet the relatives of the deceased and to offer whatever words of comfort we could.

Ahead of us in line were three young men. One was in an army uniform and the other two wore nice haircuts, dark suits and white shirts...all very professional looking. They approached Mrs. Miller, standing composed and smiling by her husband's casket.



Each of the young men hugged her, kissed her on the cheek, spoke briefly with her and moved on to the casket. Her misty light blue eyes followed them as, one by one; each young man stopped briefly and placed his own warm hand over the cold pale hand in the casket. Each left the mortuary awkwardly, wiping his eyes.



Our turn came to meet Mrs. Miller. I told her who I was and reminded her of the story from those many years ago and what she had told me about her husband's bartering for marbles. With her eyes glistening, she took my hand and led me to the casket.

'Those three young men who just left were the boys I told you about.

They just told me how they appreciated the things Jim 'traded' them. Now, at last, when Jim could not change his mind about color or size......they came to pay their debt.'



'We've never had a great deal of the wealth of this world,' she confided, 'but right now, Jim would consider himself the richest man in Idaho ..'



With loving gentleness she lifted the lifeless fingers of her deceased husband. Resting underneath were three exquisitely shined red marbles.

The Moral:
We will not be remembered by our words, but by our kind deeds. Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath.


Today I wish you a day of ordinary miracles ~ A fresh pot of coffee you didn't make yourself...

An unexpected phone call from an old friend.... Green stoplights on your way to work or home....

The fastest line at the grocery store....

A good sing-along song on the radio...

Your keys found right where you left them.


Never be in too much of a hurry to notice the ordinary miracles when they occur.



IT'S NOT WHAT YOU GATHER, BUT WHAT YOU SCATTER THAT TELLS WHAT KIND OF LIFE YOU HAVE LIVED!

I WAS NOT ALWAYS AN OBAMA FAN, I WAS A HILLARY FAN

My husband volunteered to help with Obama’s campaign. They asked my husband to go to Colorado and knocked on doors to ask Colorado residents to vote for Obama. The Democratic Party chose Colorado, as it was more of a swing state. Utah has remained consistently Red. Even with Bush at the Helm . Yes, we were filled with enthusiasm. We had a candidate that gave us something to believe in. It was my Husbands first year to be able to vote in the election, as he was now a citizen of the United States. I actually believed Obama had a chance in Utah. Obama did bring new voters out and increased the percentage of votes for a Democratic president in Utah. He inspired me to want to do more for my country, and for the party that had been speaking up for the people, the workers.

I will confess that I was not always an Obama fan. I was a Hillary Rodham Clinton Fan. The Ilunga house was divided in the primary. I would say to my husband, “Why are you supporting this guy?” "Who is he? This guy from Chicago, Obama” Obama sounded like Osama, a terrorist leader of Al Queda, that took part in the advocacy of the plane attacks on September 11. Obama’s middle name Hussein was the last name of Saddam, the Crazy leader of Iraq, whom the United States was now at war with. His name did not matter to me just thought it was kind of ironic. I like his name “Barrack” and it means “Blessed by God” I just did not know any thing about him. Then I would go on to say “Hillary has been fighting for the people most of her life.” Remember when she said, “It takes a village” how true those words were. I have repeated that line many times in my life. It does take a village. In my past I had distantly followed her. I was never truly active in politics except to vote. I had been an activist for clean air and water in Florida. Knocking door to door in my later 20’s. I remember once while I was out canvassing in ST Peters burg in Florida an older man had a conversation with me in his yard. There was a bit of wisdom in which he spoke that I never forgot. He said, “be careful of all the laws you make as eventually they take away your freedoms” I have often pondered on that, and saw much truth in it.
I did express my viewpoints when the moment presented it’s self. Especially when people would make statements that were not true about Democrats, or issues. I openly would state what I supported, and what I didn’t. When I was younger it was Hillary Clinton whom was the pioneer of Health Care Reform, unfortunately America was not ready. She was sincere and passionate. I wanted Hillary to become the first American women President. I actually donated to her campaign. She deserved it and she had earned it. My husband would say, “Deb, give Obama a chance, listen to what he has to say. He sounds like you!” Being loyal, I was not going to listen to Obama, I stood by Hillary in the primary and actually cried when she lost. We followed the states and I would dance around when Hillary took a state( kind of like when we would watch a football game or basketball game but we were supporting different teams and my team scored,) My excitement did not last long as that evening Obama was declared the victor and Hillary graciously gave the baton to Obama. My Hillary team had lost the primary. I wondered what the heck are delegates, and why do they get to decide? I am pointing out here my lack of knowledge of how this political process works. What are super delegates? I said to my husband in tears “Obama should make Hillary his VP.” My husband could not believe I had taken it so hard. My tears turned to anger and I said if he does not make her his VP I will not vote for him. Listening to the news others felt the same, so I found I was not alone in my feelings. My husband said, “Obama is wise he will offer her a position that will be best for her”. Well the Democrats were divided in the primary and waiting in suspense to see who Obama’s VP would be. Obama announced his choice and my heart sank again. Hillary was not the choice. I thought what a powerful ticket that could have been. What was he thinking? No doubt with her by his side the Dems would claim the White House and put our country back on track. Hillary asked us to come together. I had a hard time accepting her defeat. I thought about how strong she was as the first lady. When she had to endure the scandals and the infidelity of her husband. She carried herself with strength and class. She stayed loyal and brought the words forgiveness to the four front in her personal life. That takes great love and strength. In her defeat in the primary, I started looking at John McCain as an alternative. He was a war hero, and was not afraid to go against his party when he felt it was the right thing to do. I admired that, however, McCain did not speak how I felt. The day came when I finally LISTENED to Obama. It was on the night of his accepting the Democratic nomination His speech sent tingles down my body. Wow!! I could not help but listened. I saw a man whose words touched my heart. He spoke what I felt. That night I decided I wanted to know who this man was. That night was the starting point for the journey I would be taking as an out spoken advocate for Health care Reform and the battle against the insurance companies. It sparked a burning desire to try and grow the Democratic Party in Utah. To not be afraid to take steps to help create something better for my children,my family and friends and my fellow Americans. I was happy to join the Obama wave that was taking the country, and I have never regretted it. YES WE CAN! SLOWLY COMING OUT OF THE CLOSET

I can remember 2 years ago how excited I was to cast my vote for Barack Obama on November 4, 2008. Before this day my husband and I became a small voice for him in Utah. We were not given a sign to put in our yard, but, had we had a sign, my husband would have still wanted us to be respectful of our neighbors and their beliefs and opinions. I agree. We all should be respectful, but I would have been fine placing Obama's name in my front yard. Would putting a sign up for the person I wanted to vote for really make people angry with us? Would it be disrespectful? Would my friends disown me? True friends love you despite your differences. We all can't think the same. Many put up Republicans signs. Why would a Democratic sign be so different? I started seeing some signs for Obama while driving and I got excited. I remember going to a girl’s night out and one of our friends, a staunch Republican, spoke up about proposition 8 in California. She stated that if Obama wins this election he has legislation he plans to sign immediately after his oath to office that will over turn Proposition 8. I had read the document she had been making reference to and her statement was inaccurate. I spoke up in this group and declared that was not so. She asked me to go read the document. I responded, I have, and what she is saying just is not so. Obama has stated he believes that marriage is between one man and one woman and that he would not be changing proposition 8 in California, that banned same sex marriage. However, he did say “I know there are differences on same-sex marriage, but surely we can agree that our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters deserve to visit the person they love in the hospital and to live lives free of discrimination” I absolutely agree. This friend tended to be someone people would listen too unfortunately, and on many occasions she has not had her facts straight. She even blogged that Obama was a radical, I had to chuckle at that one. Imagine someone with compassion for all, being called a radical. I do recall that the Pharisees considered Jesus that in his time. I am not comparing Jesus to Obama . Just making note how in history people claimed the same thing about Jesus. Now in this group of ladies I believe she new that by bringing up same sex marriage and stating Obama would over turn prop 8, that would instantly make our friends vote against him. I am not sure if my speaking up made a difference, but all of a sudden I felt good and a little flushed about the correction, and helping others know the truth about Obama’s position. There are 2 things you are taught at an early age and that’s not to talk about religion or politics, you are sure to have discourse. I did not want to offend anyone, but leading people with falsehoods was something I could not stand for. I believe this friend believed she was being accurate as she tends to listen to conservative media as fact. Let the record show that Obama administration on Oct 12, 2010 decided to appeal a judge's rulings that prevented the U.S. government from banning same-sex marriages. Still it seemed to me that no matter what a person believed in, or what he stood for, he or she would not have a chance to win if he was a Democrat in Utah County. So I tended to just go out and vote and speak up every now and then and leave it at that. Frustrated by the condition of our country,seeing my friends lose their homes,people without health care or the negative effects of health care debt, a war without end, our economy, rising cost of gas, the pollution of our world, the banks charging 25,00 dollars for a 3.00 over draft, insurance companies taking advantage of their power, I was now speaking out a little more. Obama gave us something to believe in!
