Here's for all those people who think Unions have out lived their use

This post was inspired by a commenter in a group talking about unions saying "unions do no good any more "

Here's what another commenter Posted: Union review cliff's note version is this: Amerijet was mainly a US to the islands cargo co. They removed galleys and to...ilets legally because the flights were under the time limit requiring access to toilets, food, and hydration. Toiletting bags and thermos with coffee was provided. Then the company started developing longer route contracts and expected pilots to 'hold it' for 6-10 hours or store their body wastes with their food. It was the union who forced them to provide appropriate facilities to their employees, reinstalling galleys and toilets so lets not pretend that 21st century business is humane and caring of their employees or that unions don't serve their membership.

Always be willing to be a STUDENT!

My sons just started learning Hapkido from a master. The master told them, "you do not just learn Hapkido you become Hapkido." Then he took them over to the different colored belts starting from white on the bottom to black on the top.The master asked them "Which belt do you think is the most important?" the boys answered, "The black one at the top" with this the master answered it is the "white" which represents you starting as a student open and willing to learn." All through life we must be students open and willing to learn, this is the most important for growth.

Obama and the Pledge of allegiance

I can not believe the lengths people will go to smear our president. From attacking him about not putting his hand over his heart in a picture and the video of this picture this was filmed and the picture was taken when he was running for president. Obama was on a stage with other candidates, instead he was singing the national Anthem, along with a lady singing it. The flag was a picture behind them for the stage.

Obama explaining the pledge of allegiance to students in a school.
A heckler yelling at Obama about the pledge What a patient guy that Obama is.

Obama defending himself from silly rumors http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7RX-7iy5Jo&feature=related

Obama sets the record strait in Iowa, ""classic dirty trick," the Illinois Democrat told his supporters to correct the record and that the image is not what it appears to be.

"This is just so irritating," Obama responded. "This was not the Pledge of Allegiance. This woman was singing the Star Spangled Banner. Now, I was taught by my grandfather that you put your hands over your heart during the Pledge of Allegiance. The Star Spangled Banner, you sing. So that's what I did."

The photo was taken this summer at Sen. Tom Harkin's annual steak fry in Indianola, Iowa.

Just so you know there are pictures of other Presidents doing the same, but all the pledge of allegiance supporters never said a word, they all voted for some of these guys. Bush was one. There are many more of Presidents not doing this , yet the Republicans will continue to make a issue of this regarding Obama. The rumor is not true!

OBAMA! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR ME LATELY?

I would say President Obama has been hard at work doing a lot for the American people, and for many who show no gratitude. Come take a look: http://www.hopeandchange.net/2010/09/updated-obama-achievements-list.html

WOW! I know I would be worn out! Perhaps even a few more Grey hairs.

May I say Thank You Obama, and believe it or not I live here in Utah.

The Forgotten Man

This was the name of a beautifully painted offensive painting done by a man named Jon McNaughton. I came across it on a dear friends FB, that unfortunately had some negative rhetoric about our Prez, and I could not help but rebuttal. I was glad to find someone liking my rebuttal. The Painting had many of our past presidents on it, but as you looked at it you would begin to see a disturbing message, as he paints Obama stepping on the constitution. I HAVE BEEN AMAZED AT THE KIND OF RHETORIC THAT HAS BEEN GOING AROUND ABOUT OUR PRESIDENT. Amazed at how some of my fellow Utahans quickly jump on the ban wagon. The Republican Ban Wagon. Lots of false negative rhetoric drummed up by the Republican Party. The kind of negative messages that spread hate instead of love and hope, this painting did this, and not the kind of message Jesus would ever endorse.
After an election it use to be the country would come together and support our leaders. The parties would come together and support the President elect. From day one President Obama has had to battle negative rhetoric and lack of support from the Republican leaders since before he was sworn into office and it hasn't let up. He has committed nothing immorally wrong, and nothing that he could be impeached for, and has bent over backwards to try and work with the Republican party. So much so that he has upset some of his democratic leaders and voters. I personally say "Obama forget it, you will never find reason with in the party that seems to care nothing for the people and appears to only want to win an election and not focus on make America better." Another painting quite offensive was of the savior Jesus holding the constitution, while this artist yells about entitlement programs and how they need to be eliminated. I would love to know how he would explain on judgment day his position on feeding the needy, speaking out for the oppressed and poor, and his lack of support for a fair wage to the working class. I know Jesus always told us how difficult it would be for a wealthy man to enter the kingdom of heaven and how the meek would inherit the earth. I think not only does he not understand the constitution but also does not understand who Jesus was and is,and yet he paints both of them. The constitution was a document that was never perfect, and was actually a document that was pro Federal Government supported by the Federalist, it was the Anti- Federalist that wanted them to add the Bill of Rights because they feared losing individual rights. Our first 10 amendments were the Bill of rights and I am so glad we have them. Jon spoke about the constitution, yet another person commented on this painting after I posted it in a fb group saying "His message of Obama stepping on the constitution displays an appalling lack of understanding as to nature of the constitution. " I couldn't agree more. This commenter gave him an A in Art and an F in civics. This is not an artist I would ever buy a painting from. The Forgotten Man is right Jon, you have forgotten all that he has done for our country in only 2 years, could you possibly look a little deeper. Next post will be what Obama has done for our country since he took office.

What did Ronald Reagan think of Unions

Let's hear it from the horses mouth "Where free Unions and collective bargaining are forbidden, freedom is lost"~ Ronald Reagan

Republicans are asking middle class America to pay for deficit

Do as I say or I will starve you, and get laws passed to support this. Evidence that GOP is the friend of the big Business and not the people. When GOP wants to cut bargaining rights for workers and then wants to pass laws that will cause your family to starve if you rise up against big business, don't you ask your self, Who's your daddy?. What do you call this? What are your thoughts on the subject?

Hitler Said This!

The national government will maintain and defend the foundations on which the power of our nation rests. It will offer strong protection to Christianity as the very basis of our collective morality. Today Christians stand at the head of our country. We want ot fill our culture again with the Christian spirit. We want to burn out all the recent immoral developments in literature, in the theater, and in the press - in short, we want to burn out the poison of immorality which has entered into our whole life and culture as a result of LIBERAL excesses during the past years. - Adolf Hitler (Hakeen, Michael. The Speeches of Adolf Hitler, 1922-1939, vol. 1. London, Oxford University Press, 1942, pp. 871-872.)

We already know what extreme thinking brought to the world. We must never let it happen again. When we lose respect for others who think differently than ourselves, when we try to control by censorship of literature, theater,Art, Press , we lose what America and her people stand for. When we believe that we are better than others and take steps to suppress what we do not agree with...than we are no better than a dictator and we are no longer the land of the FREE!

Republican Leaders and the American Farmer

"Republicans approve of the American farmer,
but they are willing to help him go broke.
They stand four-square for the American home--
but not for housing. They are strong for labor--
but they are stronger for restricting labor's
...rights. They favor minimum wage--the smaller the
minimum wage the better. They endorse educational
opportunity for all--but they won't spend
money for teachers or for schools. They think
modern medical care and hospitals are fine--
for people who can afford them. They consider
electrical power a great blessing--but only when
the private power companies get their rake-off.
They think American standard of living is a fine
thing--so long as it doesn't spread to all the
people. And they admire the Government of the
United States so much that they would like to buy it. "
Harry S. Truman

I AM PROUD TO SAY I AM A LIBERAL~JFK

But if by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, the...ir civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the s...talemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal."
-- JFK 9/14/60

Joe Republican

A friend of mine posted this in a group I am in, and I thought it was good, and definitely hit home! Vote for those who vote for you!

A Day In the Life of Joe Republican
(author unknown)

Joe gets up at 6 a.m. and fills his coffeepot with water to prepare his morning coffee. The water is clean and good because some tree-hugging liberal fought for minimum water-quality standards. With his first swallow of coffee, he takes his daily medication. His medications are safe ...to take because some stupid commie liberal fought to insure their safety and that they work as advertised.

All but $10 of his medications are paid for by his employer's medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance - now Joe gets it too. He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs. Joe's bacon is safe to eat because some girly-man liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry.

In the morning shower, Joe reaches for his shampoo. His bottle is properly labeled with each ingredient and its amount in the total contents because some crybaby liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and how much it contained. Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes is clean because some environmentalist wacko liberal fought for laws to stop industries from polluting our air. He walks to the subway station for his government-subsidized ride to work. It saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees because some fancy-pants liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor.

Joe begins his work day. He has a good job with excellent pay, medical benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some lazy liberal union members fought and died for these working standards. Joes employer pays these standards because Joe's employer doesn't want his employees to call the union. If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed, he'll get a worker's compensation or unemployment check because some stupid liberal didn't think he should lose his home or go hungry because of his temporary misfortune.

It's noontime and Joe needs to make a bank deposit so he can pay some bills. Joe's deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some godless liberal wanted to protect Joe's money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the Great Depression. Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae-underwritten mortgage and his below-market federal student loan because some elitist liberal decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his lifetime.

Joe is home from work. He plans to visit his father this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive. His car is among the safest in the world because some America-hating liberal fought for car safety standards. He arrives at his boyhood home. His was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers' Home Administration because bankers didn't want to make rural loans. The house didn't have electricity until some big-government liberal stuck his nose where it didn't belong and demanded rural electrification. He is happy to see his father, who is now retired. His father lives on Social Security and a union pension because some wine-drinking, cheese-eating liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldn't have to. Joe gets back in his car for the ride home, and turns on a radio talk show. The radio host keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good. He doesn't mention that the beloved Republicans have fought against every protection and benefit Joe enjoys throughout his day.

Joe agrees: "We don't need those big-government liberals ruining our lives! After all, I'm a self-made man who believes everyone should take care of themselves, just like I have."

Republican legislators in Minnesota have introduced a bill to criminalize carrying cash for anyone on public assistance.

Republican legislators in Minnesota have introduced a
bill to criminalize carrying cash for anyone on public assistance.

Can anyone really justify this kind of thinking?

Well actually someone tried to on FB. I will not list their names, to protect the innocent but here goes: Conservative commenter: "I read the article and am wondering what their ogic is? Are they attempting to stop people from getting cash and using it for the wrong purpose? I am ignorant on such things -- I thought you got housing assistance and food assistance but ...was unaware of cash - unless it was for mothers of children with no child support. And it looks like they can get money - just not a lot at once. Debit card is still money just more controllable about where it is spent. So how does this preent peopel from looking for work? I missed the connection - but as I said - I don't know much about gvt. assistance."
Of coarse this Conservative commenter would never call themselves ignorant ( I believe it was sarcasm), and wanted you to know they have never been on public assistance. People who brag about this fact tend to be people who look down on those who are on public assistance. Then a response to this was another commenter explaining how government assistance works. Then the Conservative commenter stated this: "Interesting" Then a liberal commenter wrote:"‎@------- "Interesting", That's all you have to say? ------, I thought for sure being the conservative fiscal person you are that you would be yelling about the spending on these machines and tax payers paying for it and the cost of changing it and government getting into peoples lives...Oh I forgot if you need assistance because the cost of living is so dang high, and your income is so dang low, you are no longer a person but property of the us government.....better to scream about the health care bill that could benefit everyone. Now that is Interesting. I do not believe because someone makes more money or they have never had to use assistance makes them better than anyone else. "Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his moccasins." “Don't judge any man until you have walked two moons in his moccasins”~Indian proverb and a good one." Sorry but I have to agree with the Liberal commenter and ironically they seemed to be more concerned about government in peoples lives including the poor. I am passionate about those suffering in our country and do not take lightly legislation that dehumanizes people ,nor stay silent to those who speak out in support of it or justifying it.

Kansas State Rep. Virgil Peck (R) Makes an inappropriate joke about shooting illegals like Verl Hogs

Kansas State Rep. Virgil Peck (R) made an inappropriate joke and refuses to apologize for it. He stated "it might be a good idea to control illegal immigration the way the feral hog population has been controlled: with gunmen shooting from helicopters." I can not ever remember hearing a democratic leader say such a thing...even in jest. Is this really the kind of leaders we want in Washington?

TRUE BLUE PARTY: IS THE REPUBLICAN PARTY THE MOST FISCALLY RESPONS...: "Fiscal responsibility??? This word has been looming around in the air for several years. It now has become 'the word' that launches campaigns". If you go to the link I have provided and read, the facts will show that Democrats are the most fiscally responsible through history. Democrats take in more revenue and spend less, and still support laws that help the most vulnerable.

The Other America

The other America...Reno Nevada, people living in Tents. This makes me so sad to think Americans are turning a blind eye as if these people were invisible. For those of you who keep supporting Republican leaders please think again. Can Republican leaders keep continuing to turn a blind eye? Tea Party Representatives like (R) Paul and (R)Bachmann keep yelling cut Affordable Housing, opposing Health Care for Americans. Our own Jason CHAFFETZ Parroted Pelosi spin (which was inaccurate) and then quoted Utah has HIP(state funded by Utahans who all do not benefit.)for not supporting Health Care. He never pointed to any provision in the law that he disagreed with, but he still held his seat, possibly because there was no alternative to replace him. The Utah County Democrat seat was another Republican who would have not supported Health care for all, and wasn't sure why either. Our state taxes keep going up, and they are thinking about doubling the food taxes. I thought they did not like taxes, and I thought they were for limited government? They only want limited when it benefits YOU. Stand up American people for yourself, not big business. Please read those posts on Jason ( I want to give him the benefit of the doubt but he makes it hard.) They support the laws that got us in this mess. I see big wealthy business not contributing. Where is their tax break , and cuts going? If money only goes to wealthy business owners, and we take away more from the working class American people then no one can afford to bring money to their business. Working people spend at their business as well as help make profits for the business by working there. I back Unions because they are a collective voice of the worker and without them the worker has no power. I am sad to see Americans blaming Unions for our economy, when it is the War, Tax breaks for the 1% wealthy, and wall street that brought us down along with the Bush and Republican agenda. They are back at it again as if eight years was not enough. Please vote for the Representative that votes for you! More than likely you will find them in the Democratic Party!Help the Homeless in America and vote for a Democratic leader who has the voice that defends them!

BUT WE HAVE TO PASS THE BILL SO THAT YOUCAN FIND OUT WHAT IS IN IT, AWAY FROM THE FOG OF CONTROVERSY

I have tried to set the record straight so many times but this comment I just had to copy and paste. You see if you read my Pelosi Delivered post in 2010 you would know I already knew this. I am just glad there are others who got it too.

"Cleatus Pomazal-Smith on October 15th, 2010 at 10:18am said:

Marguerite Higgins is a FOX News ditto-head who has been completely fooled by false FOX News-created video clip. Pelosi was addressing Conference for National Association of Counties (NACO) in 3/9/2010 speech and not Congress, as FOX would have you believe. Congress already knew what was in bill. Pelosi’s full paragraph:

“. . . You’ve heard about the controversies within the bill, the process about the bill . . . But I don’t know if you have heard that it is legislation for the future . . . It’s going to be very, very exciting. [BUT WE HAVE TO PASS THE BILL SO THAT YOU (meaning NACO attendees and not Congressional members) CAN FIND OUT WHAT IS IN IT, AWAY FROM THE FOG OF CONTROVERSY.] Furthermore, we believe that health care reform . . .”

FOX deliberately failed to identify context (NACO forum and NACO audience) and deceptively cut statement, thereby intentionally altering Pelosi’s meaning so as to be damaging to her–explicitly to portray her as informing Congress ‘we have to pass bill so that you Congress can find out what is in it’ playing into Republican falsehood that health care bill was too long and people writing it did not know what was in it. With audience, full text, and context exposed, Pelosi’s statement is not damaging at all. This is the kind of inaccurate, deceitful tricks we have come to expect of Heritage and FOX."

Stand up and Clap!!! I got this from Heritage blog, who never changed their spin.
Heritage blog and all the sheep that fell in line except for this one!

the #1 Reason people do not sleep in shelters- Lack of Available Beds There is not enough shelter for everyone!

I belong to a group called Reason and Passion and we talk about political issues everyday. The issue of the human condition is always there. Homelessness in America, came up.
Here a some statements said by a member in our group, which is actually a very common census
"Most of those homeless people don't need to be. There are county programs for housing, but must be drug free. Most stay homeless by choice."

"I said they CHOOSE to be homeless." " That is the choice between being sober or homeless. All these programs exist now, not just suggestions. They just have to choose to use them and adhere to them."

"There are always exceptions."

Bills Republicans Have Blocked

Bills Republicans have blocked since Obama has taken office This link gives you some bills that have been Blocked by Republicans. Lets not forget that they did not support a Health care bill that put some controls on the Insurance companies.

The Main Street Movement~ working class standing up!

You Have More Money In Your Wallet Than Bank Of America Pays In Federal Taxes

Working Class Speaking Louder!!! Please check out the link. Here is some of it "Today, hundreds of thousands of people comprising a Main Street Movement — a coalition of students, the retired, union workers, public employees, and other middle class Americans — are in the streets, demonstrating against brutal cuts to public services and crackdowns on organized labor being pushed by conservative politicians. These lawmakers that are attacking collective bargaining and cutting necessary services like college tuition aid and health benefits for public workers claim that they have no choice but than to take these actions because both state and federal governments are in debt.

But it wasn’t teachers, fire fighters, policemen, and college students that caused the economic recession that has devastated government budgets — it was Wall Street. And as middle class workers are being asked to sacrifice, the rich continue to rig the system, dodging taxes and avoiding paying their fair share. "

When are we going to get it? It's not about redistributing wealth, it's about leveling the playing field. It is about being fair! You Go Working Class You know I am behind you!
